Field dressing or gutting can be done very quickly. I used a three inch blade in this video which is more than adequate. Even a small two inch blade could be used. The key is to have a razor sharp edge. I found a Butt Puller to be a real time saver as well. Always start your work at the butt and work your way up toward the chest while pulling up on the hide. Try to keep the blade just under the skin while keeping the tip of the blade pointing forward and slightly tilted down. Above all, don't get your hand in front of the blade or puncture the bladder as it will ruin meat. Don't get discouraged on your first try and always remember to approach your downed animal from behind in case it gets back up. Hope this helps someone out there. What I have learned since this video is that you want to pull the intestines out with the butt puller roughly 12", then tie a string tightly around the intestines at the butt and with a sharp knife cut the intestines 1" past the string. This will help keep any fecal matter off the meat. Please subscribe, like and comment. You might also like to watch
